All my life I was embarrassed
of my upbringings. I came from a poor
family in a rural area of North Dakota.
I had always dreamed of being successful in life and my goal was to
become a wealthy business man.
Eventually, I left home and I pursued my dream. Once I met Daisy before I went into the war, I
told her that I came from a wealthy family and lied about my past. The only reason I did this was because I wanted
to seem good enough for her. She was a
graceful and charming woman who lived a luxurious life. I wanted to impress her and seem like I was a
person of her kind. After the war and
after she married someone else, I moved to West Egg. I did this because I heard she was living is
East Egg and I wanted a second chance with her.
I knew that we belonged together and I didn’t want to give up on
us. I bought a mansion just across the
bay from her house with Tom. I knew
there was still hope for us and our relationship, so I tried everything I could
to draw her attention. Unfortunately, I couldn’t
reach out to her personally because I was too shy to show my face. One thing I did know though was that if I moved
to West Egg, I would have more chances to be around her. She was the woman of my dreams and the one I wanted
to spend the rest of my life with. I
would have done anything in my power to have her back in my life again.

ReplyDeleteGatsby,
ReplyDeleteI admire your lifestyle and how it came about. You worked so hard to accomplish your dream, but it all paid off. You were such a gentleman and did everything in hopes of impressing Daisy so she would come back into your life. You were truly one of a kind. I wish I told you more often how much I appreciated you.
Sincerely,
Nick Carraway
Gatsby,
ReplyDeleteI never knew you bought that house in order to be close to me. I never knew you loved me that much. I knew you were lying about being poor because there was details that never added up and you never had much to show for it at first. I married someone else because you would not be able to give me what I needed at first. After everything that happened I couldn't call you and come back to you. I loved you but I also loved Tom and you tried to make me choose. I am sorry for the way things ended.
Love,
Daisy

ReplyDeleteGatsby,
ReplyDeleteYou're goal to catch Daisy's attention is admirable. When we spoke at your party, I was ecstatic to hear that my good friend Daisy had someone in her life who wanted so desperately to please her. I'm more than glad to help set you two up. You two are a match made in heaven.
